Thank you to our clients!
A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing clients in 2025. Your adventurous spirit keeps our days ever-changing, educational, inspiring and ... if we're being honest ... sometimes super stressful. But always interesting and we are truly grateful for the wonderful people we've attracted over the years to become our clients, and often friends. We love your passion for travel and your kindness toward us and the world at large.
We made it through another year of travel snafus from airline strikes to airspace closures to wars and political uncertainty. We helped clients safely return from their destination when they were sick; sent multiple cancer survivors on dream trips; helped navigate insurance claims for clients who had to cancel their trips due to medical complications, injury and advocated to get changes, refunds and updated policies or documents for multiple others.
In 2025 we had more than 25 clients enjoy the luxury of river cruising in Europe, Asia, Colombia and Egypt! We had clients who went to far-off lands (and seas) such as Antarctica, Ghana, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Togo, Benin and Saudi Arabia. We had a family of five do a 'partway around the world' trip for the better part of eight months and we had two friends in their 30's do an around-the-world trip in 10 months. We sent clients to see the Great Migration in Kenya and Tanzania, snorkelling in the Maldives and lots of clients headed off to Southeast Asia and Japan! Let's not forget the 19 amazing people who, in two groups, spent two weeks in South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe with Shari on the most incredible African Safaris.
That's a whole lot of travel from a whole lot of amazing individuals!

The negative impact of travel and our positive contributions
With our love of travel, though, there comes a toll on the planet, the communities and the historic locations we visit. We do our best to work with sustainable companies whenever possible to have a positive impact on the people, places and the planet. We also aim to educate our clients on how to be better travellers when they are out in the world exploring. And, we try to set a good example in our own travels, but we are all still learning. It is up to all of us to help our planet stay healthy so generations to come can enjoy all of its beauty!
Since 2020, we have planted trees and done carbon offsetting on behalf of all of our clients at Love the Way You Travel.
In 2025, together, we funded the planting of 1020 trees and offset 51 tonnes of CO2. Additionally, Love the Way You Travel planted another 36 trees and offset an additional 8.5 tonnes of CO2 for our own travels and business footprint.
Over the years, it all adds up. To date, we have funded the planting of 5640 trees and offset 213.08 tonnes of C02 through verified, gold-standard projects with B Corp Company, Ecologi. Please take a moment to click through and learn about the incredible work they do for our planet and the interesting projects we support through them. Everything from clean cook stoves to saving rainforests!

Positive impacts in tourism and our business
Tree planting and carbon offsetting are just part of what we do to have a positive impact!
We work with multiple B Corp travel companies that are 3rd party certified to have a positive impact and do good for the world. We had more than 20 travellers enjoy destinations worldwide with these amazing companies on small group tours from Japan to Ghana, Chile & Argentina to China & Vietnam to Georgia, Armenia & Azerbaijan - just to name a few!
We also work with the greenest ships on the European Waterways for River Cruises; several incredible Expedition Cruise companies that have state-of-the-art fuel and waste systems, along with organizing beach clean-ups, scientific research and protection of both remote communities and wildlife (land and sea!).
We've booked countless hotels with Green Key certifications or transparent sustainability practices in place. We work with companies that plant trees for each of their travellers, and we love our partners, Wilderness, so much that Shari took 19 clients to Africa to travel with them on a once-in-a-lifetime safari experience, including helicopter safaris over the Okavango Delta. While on safari they stayed at near-zero-footprint luxury camps, learned about conservation, anti-poaching measures and human-wildlife conflict, all while having the most incredible safari experiences.
We use AI very sparingly, and when we do, we've invested in using Green PT, which is based in Europe and runs on renewable energy.
Why is this so very important you might wonder?
AI is a huge natural resource-suck, and it is growing at speeds that our world's natural resources simply cannot keep up with. If you are using Chat GPT to get life advice, create an AI version of yourself, write your emails, write your resume or all of the other amazing things it can do, you are also contributing to huge consumption of water and natural resources that can't be replaced as fast as we are using them. NOT. EVEN. CLOSE. We encourage you to learn more about the devastating impact of AI through these two articles and challenge you to curb your AI use by using it only when necessary, not for fun and games.

With that, please know that Louise and I are real humans, not bots. We are not relying on AI to plan your vacations. We take the hard, but way more satisfying road - The one of hours of education, personal experience, building connections with suppliers, grit and determination. We love our world. We love our clients. We are passionate about positive impact through tourism. We hope to continue to send more and more client on amazing, authentic adventures. We're looking for you - those who share our values for adventure, sustainability, personal connection, conservation and human kindness.
Thanks for a stellar 2025. Here's to great things and amazing travels in 2026!

I am so impressed with all you’ve done over the years to promote and support sustainable and responsible tourism. Hope to travel with you again in the future!
Aww thanks, Kim. Glad you still follow along and would love to work with you again when the time is right. Sustainability is a journey for sure. I learned about the importance of travelling better way back when I first started as a travel advisor downtown. Then did some training, learned more and more, took sustainable trips and the passion continued on. Still much more work to do, from all of us.
I am so pleased to read about your work on sustainability in your business. It helps to make me feel better about the travel I indulge in. Your carbon offsets are impressive. I checked.
Thanks, Linda. We don’t talk about it as much as we should, but we do a lot of great things that, to be honest, haven’t even crossed other’s minds … yet. We hope they’ll get there and that sustainability in tourism will be common in a few years rather than niche. We can always do more, but for now we are proud of what we are doing, how we are contributing and how we are making a small difference with this little company in Nova Scotia 🙂
